‘Onyok’ now a typhoon — Pagasa

“ONYOK” (international name: Mitag) intensified into a typhoon on Sunday evening, the weather bureau said.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) spotted “Onyok” at 180 kilometers northeast of Basco, Batanes at 4 a.m. It was carrying maximum sustained winds of up to 120 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gustiness of up to 150 kph. It was moving in a northwest direction at a speed of 20 kph.
