WB gives P500M fro Zamboanga's farm roads

DIPOLOG CITY: The World Bank (WB), through the Department of Agriculture’s (DA’s) Philippine Rural Development Program, has appropriated P500 million financial grant for the concreting of close to 35-kilometer farm-to-market-roads (FMRs) in the coastal municipalities of Kalawit and Labason, Zamboanga del Norte, during a ground-breaking ceremony held separately late last month in the two towns. Gov. Roberto Uy identified the FMRs to be cemented as Gatas, Batayan, Poblacion and Daniel Maing villages in Kalawit and the villages of Gabu, Lawigan and Osukan in Labason. DA Secretary William Dar disclosed in his report the two FMR plans were reflective of the “8 Pillars of Agriculture,” namely, the new thinking of agriculture, modernization of agriculture, industrialization of DA facilities, exportation of more crops/commodities, farm consolidation, infrastructure, budget and legislative support.
