ILIGAN CITY: The Lumbia Airport Police Station presented on Friday three masked men who were alleged members of the New People’s Army (NPA) thatchose to return to the fold of law. Authorities said the masked men from Barangay Tinapolan surrendered to Lumbia Police Station Chief Capt. Dennis Ebsolo. Police said the alleged rebels laid down their weapons — a Garand refile, a caliber .45 pistol and ammunition, including three grenades. The three ex-rebels said they decided to surrender because they were tired of hiding for eight years, adding their families were deprived of education and had nothing to eat. Col. Henry Dampol, City Police director said, the three men would benefit from the government Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program. He also urged other NPA rebels to surrender. Meanwhile, the Army’s 4th Infantry Division organized its corps of “social media warriors” to wage an information war against communist propaganda.
