A GROUP representing the country’s top distilleries expressed support for the government’s proposal to raise alcohol taxes, but stressed that the tax measure should promote a level playing field among industry players.

In a statement on Sunday, Distilled Spirits Association of the Philippines (DSAP) President Olivia Limpe-Aw said members were concerned that current tax proposal was imposing a heavier tax on distilled spirits and a lighter levy on wine products.
