Cayetano files measure on absolute divorce

A measure instituting absolute divorce and dissolution of marriage in the Philippines has been introduced in the Senate.

In filing Senate Bill (SB) 288 or an “Act instituting absolute divorce and dissolution of marriage in the Philippines,” Sen. Juliana “Pia” Cayetano explained that while Executive Order 209, or the “Family Code of the Philippines,” provided for grounds for termination of marriage, this process of annulment is extremely adversarial in nature, unnecessarily tedious and very expensive.
