ON July 11, the nation will celebrate the sesquicentennial, or the 150th birth anniversary of Dr. Pio Valenzuela, who was born in 1869 in Polo, Bulacan (now a city named after him, Valenzuela). But instead of being the highlight, it will just be the beginning of a year-long celebration which includes a production of a musical tribute on the life and example of Valenzuela that is being recorded in collaboration with Gary Granada and Lapis.ph featuring the most talented singers in Philippine music history.
