Group: Rice farmers lose billions from low prices

A business group claims that rice imports have caused farmers of the crop to lose a staggering P95 billion as farmgate prices of palay (unmilled rice) have hit lows, making them lose as much as P5 per kilo.

According to government statistics, the average cost of producing palay in the Philippines is P12.72 per kilo.
