BIR requires TIN of foreign workers

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) over the weekend reiterated that foreigners and nonresident aliens planning to work in the Philippines must secure their Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN) after estimates indicated the government is losing billions in income taxes from unregistered foreign workers.

“This order is being issued to prescribe the registration requirements of foreign individuals not engaged and/or engaged in trade or business or gainful employment in the Philippines,” Internal Revenue Commissioner Caesar Dulay said in Revenue Memorandum Order 28-2019 released late on Friday.
