SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union: Seventeen members of the Ortega political clan ran during the May 13 midterm elections; 14 won and clinched the highest positions in the province, including reelected Gov. Francisco Emmanuel “Pacoy” Ortega 3rd.

Running almost unopposed, Mario Eduardo “Tot” Ortega, Pacoy’s uncle, won the vice governor’s seat; another uncle, Mario’s elder brother Pablo, was unopposed as representative of the First District.
