THE National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) raised a red alert in the Luzon grid following a 6.1 magnitude earthquake that hit most of Luzon on Monday afternoon.
"[T]he earthquake caused a drop in the available capacity of 2009 MW and brought System Frequency to 58.87 Hz. Immediately thereafter, the Automatic Load Drop caused the system to lose a demand of 2,193 MW, which brought the System Frequency to 61 Hz," NGCP said in a statement.
