ER Ejercito is a familiar name, be in the realm of showbiz or politics. As an actor, he inherited the name of his late action star father George Estregan — albeit with J for Jeorge and the suffix “Jr.” at the end — while following his famous uncle, former president and incumbent Manila City Mayor Joseph “Erap” Ejercito Estrada’s footsteps and crossing over to politics.

Just like Estrada whose first elected post was mayor of San Juan City, ER Ejercito ran as a political greenhorn in Pagsanjan, Laguna in 2001 and completed three allowable terms in office before becoming provincial governor in 2010.
