Dolphin found dead in Cebu

A FEMALE bottlenose dolphin was found dead by fishermen on Sunday night floating about 20 meters away from the shoreline of Barangay Atabay, Alcoy town, South Cebu. Cindy Plando, fisheries coordinator of the Municipal Agriculture Office of Alcoy, said the dolphin, which weighed about 70 kilos, had a length of more than 1 meter. The dolphin, which is rarely found in the area, had no wounds and looked healthy. Plando said the last time a dolphin was of sight in the place was about 15 to 20 years ago. Couple Ramil Pelarios and Rosemarie Bimos who went fishing, found the dolphin at past 9 p.m. and informed the authorities.
