CAMP EFIGENIO Navarro, Calapan City: The Police Regional Office (PRO)-Mimaropa has placed the region on full alert status in preparation for the heavy influx of tourists, who will celebrate the Yuletide Season there. Mimaropa comprises the island provinces of Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon and Palawan. Chief Supt. Tomas Apolinario Jr., PRO-Mimaropa director, said all unit commanders were directed to intensify their anti-criminality and internal security operations by tightening security measures in their respective areas of responsibility. He added that all leaves and breaks of PRO-Mimaropa personnel were cancelled. The Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams, non-government organizations and local government units were tapped to assist the police in providing public assistance  and traffic management in major thoroughfares. Several Assistance Hubs were also established in all airports, seaports and transportation terminals to help assist commuters. “The intensified police operations will last until January to ensure public safety during the Yuletide Season,” Apolinario said.
