“RAINBOW after the rain” was how Chinese President Xi Jinping described the state of affairs between the Philippines and China in an op-ed piece published in Manila newspapers ahead of his state visit on Tuesday.

This is the first state visit by a Chinese leader to the Philippines since 2005, which speaks volumes about how relations between Manila and Beijing have vastly improved under Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's administration.
