Gin Kings, Aces have the edge in semis

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) 2018 Governor’s Cup best-of-five semifinals stage is underway, and both series are expected to be skintight. The three-peat seeking Ginebra San Miguel (GSM), led by last conference’s best import Justin Brownlee, won’t have a walk in the park against the upset-conscious Magnolia Hotshots, which are piloted by another former PBA Best Import awardee Romeo Travis. As of this writing, Magnolia is up 1-0 in the series after an impressive 106-98 victory in the opener last Saturday. In the other match-up, the resurging Meralco Bolts, steered by reigning two-time Governor’s Cup Best Import, are looking for another crack at the title after two successive defeats to GSM in the last two seasons. But they tangle with another league powerhouse in the highly spirited Alaska Aces, which are inspired by do-it-all import Mike Harris.
