It makes sense to assume that children spend far more time with their families than anyone else, and thereby tend to absorb and develop their parents, siblings and immediate relatives’ beliefs, habits, behavior and attitude. It is for this reason that the family is referred to as the basic unit of society, and more importantly, the foundation of an individual which may somehow indicate the kind of life they ultimately choose to live.
For Quezon City Vice Mayor Josefina “Joy” Belmonte—the youngest and only girl among the four children of the late newspaper publisher Betty Go-Belmonte and veteran statesman Feliciano “Sonny” Belmonte—growing up amid very strong values of compassion, service and love for God and nation in action, instilled in her the significance of reaching out to others and making a difference. Along with her brothers Isaac, Kevin and Miguel, the Belmonte siblings have always had their eyes wide open to the plight of their community, society and country from a very young age.
