RAINS brought by the southwest monsoon or “habagat” and the trough of a low pressure area (LPA) are affecting parts of the country on Thursday, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.

As of 7 a.m., the LPA was spotted 1,950 kilometers east of Visayas, according to weather specialist Chris Perez.
