Rains prevail as ‘Karding’ remains stationary 

Scattered to widespread rains from moderate to heavy may be experienced over Northern and Central Luzon unti Saturday as tropical depression “Karding” intensified slightly on Wednesday and remained almost stationary over the Philippine Sea, the state weather bureau said. In its advisor, the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Karding’s eye was spotted at 1,135 kilometers east of Basco, Batanes carrying maximum sustained winds of 60 kilometer per hour (km/h) near its center and gustiness of up to 75 km/h. Though not likely to make landfall, Pagasa said Karding may enhance the southwest monsoon or habagat which will cause scattered rains, particularly over western Luzon startin Friday but with cyclone warning signals raised. Another low pressure area over the West Philippine Sea, 750 kilometer west of Northern Luzon was also spotted and is also expected to enhance the southwest monsoon.
