JUST two months after President Rodrigo Duterte issued Executive Order 52 banning contractualization, at least 200,000 workers have been fired, Rep. Ariel Casilao of Anakpawis party-list said on Wednesday.

Casilao made the claim by citing data gathered by Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU), showing that several the country’s biggest companies terminating their contractual workers instead of granting them a regular employee status in accordance with the labor law provision that those whose jobs are directly related to the business of a company cannot serve as a contractual employee for more than six months.
