CEBU CITY: Apas Barangay Chairman Ramil Ayuman confirmed reports that a 1,000-pound bomb was extracted in a construction site in an IT park at 3 a.m. on Tuesday. Personnel from the bomb squad described the bomb to be of World War II vintage, five meters and six inches high and with a diameter of one foot and 6 inches. Officials of Cebu Holdings Inc., which manages the IT park, informed authorities about the discovery of the bomb and temporarily suspended the excavation project until experts extracted the bomb. Ayuman and city disaster personnel and men of the Philippine National Police met to discuss how the bomb will be transported after it is deactivated. They agreed to transport it to the Carmen Copper Company in Toledo City where it will be detonated properly on Thursday, Ayuman said. Meanwhile, Cebu IT park administrator Jennifer Paglinawan issued a memorandum calling for the emergency evacuation of occupants of at least seven buildings in the area nearest the construction site. Ayuman said this the fourth time a vintage bomb was excavated within the IT park. He also appealed to netizens to stop spreading fake news about the vintage bomb so as not to create panic among employees of BPO firms in the IT park.
