TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan: The number of dengue cases almost doubled or about 62 percent increase in Cagayan province this year compared to last year. Medical doctor Carlos Cortina of the Provincial Health Office (PHO) here said their data showed that from January up to mid-November, the number of cases reached 1,149 compared to 705 cases recorded for the same period last year. Of the total number of dengue victims, 12 have died from eight towns in the province this year because of complications. PHO officials have reminded the public to help maintain the environment clean especially during the wet season to avoid acquiring the disease from mosquito bites.
