Farmer hacked, robbed in Tabuk

TABUK CITY, Kalinga: Policemen found the body of farmer Ariel Bernese Reyes, 28, lying face down with a bolo embedded in his back on Friday night. Reyes, of Purok 5, Barangay Gobgob, left their house at about 8:30 p.m. to sleep in their vacant house where some members of Basao tribe working on a riprapping project of the village were staying. At about 10 p.m., the laborers – Allen Macaiba, Reden Gallamoy, Atong Ngi-iw, Pedro Kisling, Rico Bag-ay and Luiz Calwing – reported to Gobgob Barangay Chairman Johnny Baluyan, the victim’s uncle about a cadaver in the house they were staying. Baluyan told The Manila Times that he has been hiring the laborers for stone-wall and riprapping works for the past two years and allowed them to stay in the old house of the victim’s family. During investigation, police said the workers pointed to Addol Ayabo, Mogay Gunnay and Bongbong Gunnay as the ones responsible for the crime. They fled on board a motorcycle before the body of Reyes was found. The P13,000 cash in Reyes’ wallet was missing.
