SEARCA, DoST tie up for climate change scholarships

THE Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (Searca) has offered to tie up with the Department of Science and Technology (DoST) to provide scholarships for advanced studies to develop capacities and expertise to address issues on climate change. Searca Director Gil Saguigit Jr. revealed this during the opening of the annual Los Baños National Science and Technology Week celebration, “SyenSya.” He said they have taken this up with DoST Secretary Fortunato dela Peña, citing collaborations in the past, including the National Science and Development Board, which was instrumental in funding a nationwide program called the Social Laboratory, a strategy for rural and agricultural development in partnership with higher education institutions to uplift the socio-economic conditions of rural farming communities.
