Napocor energizes Masbate’s Naro Island

DARAGA, Albay: The National Power Corp. (Napocor) has energized Masbate’s Naro Island, providing electricity to over 2,500 households. Napocor Bicol Operations Division (BOD) chief Serafin Marcaida Jr., said the island was provided early this month with two 80-kiloWatt generating sets that now supply electricity to all 600 households in the main village of Naro. Apart from Barangay Naro, the island, of the town of Cawayan, Masbate, still has the villages – Lo-oc, Punta and Talisay that are home to about 2,000 households – all without electricity. Cawayan is a second class municipality whose territorial land is dominated by cattle ranches Likewise, Marcaida said, Napocor had five completed and on-going transmission line projects in the province that include the 79-kilometer, 69-kilovolt (kv) Mobo-Cataingan and the 36-kilometer, 69-kv Mobo-Aroroy lines that are parts of the plan to connect Masbate mainland in one grid.
