Following consultations with chairpersons of Regional Groups, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon informed the General Assembly of his intention to appoint the Philippines' Heidi Mendoza as new Under-Secretary-General for Internal Oversight Services for a five-year non-renewable term.

Mendoza is Commissioner of the Philippines' Commission of Audit, holding this post since 2011 and serving notably as Chairperson of Audit Committee on Public Sector Auditing Standards Board and External Auditor for Food and Agriculture Organization, World Health Organization and International Labor Organization.
