LEGAZPI CITY: The Bicol Region specifically Legazpi City in Albay is gearing for a more modern mode of transportation to boost tourism and the economy and create more jobs outside Metro Manila. Mark Lapid, chief operating officer of the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, told The Manila Times that DOT Secretary Ramon Jimenez has already approved the budget for a first-ever international cruise ship. Records from the Tourism bureau showed that foreign tourist arrivals in Albay have rapidly increased, jumping to 339,000 in 2013 from 8,700 in 2006.
