NEDA calls for review of Asean disaster response pact

THE country’s top economic planning manager invited member states of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (Asean) to revisit the Asean Agreement on Disaster Management and Emergency Response to strengthen the points of collaboration among Asean member states.

Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan also pushed for the integration of lessons learned from recent phenomena like Typhoon Haiyan, the strongest typhoon on record to make landfall, into country and regional strategies for disaster resilience.
