Want to solve poverty? Try peanuts, peas and sorghum

The National Statistical Coordination Board (NSCB) has revealed that 28 of every 100 Filipinos are poor. That was as of July 2012. This 28 percent ratio is the same poverty incidence in 2006 and 2009.

While the poverty ratio remained stagnant, the absolute number of poor Filipinos actually increased—since Philippine population is growing by about 1.9 million each year.
