Majority of the voting residents of Imus, Cavite approved in a plebiscite on Saturday the move to convert the said town into a city, making it the sixth city in the province of Cavite, together with Tagaytay, Trece Martires, Cavite, Dasmarinas, and Bacoor.
At 9:00 in the evening, Commission on Election (Comelec) officer Jasmine Gilera officially proclaimed Imus as the sixth city of Cavite after the plebiscite count showed that 20,438 voted yes while only 2,304 voted no.
