Maliputo: A rare and endangered dish

What is Maliputo?

When I first got the text from my editor asking me to do a story on the “Maliputo,” I honestly had no idea who, what or where it was. And as I asked around the office, it turned out most everyone was also clueless as to what it was. Because of the word “puto” everyone thought it was another kind of “kakanin” or native delicacy from one of the provinces. That was until someone showed us its picture, featured prominently at the back of the new P50 bill along with the Taal Lake.
