The town of Angono, Rizal, has always been regarded as the Art Capital of the Philippines—the home of petroglyphs, home of masters such as Carlos “Botong” Francisco and Maestro Lucio San Pedro, and contemporary artists who imprinted their name in the Philippine art scene, like Nemiranda, Bobit Andres, Lito Balagtas, Salvador Juban, Keiye Miranda, Mike Tuazon, Weng Unidad, Pepito Villaluz, Perdigon Vocalan and the Blanco Family. From generations to generations the artistry has been taught and passed on. To this date, it is the province where art collectives such as the Angono Ateliers and the Neo-Angono Arts Collective can be found.

For the celebration of the Philippine Arts Festival (PAF) 2012 this February, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) will hold the Philippine Visual Arts Festival 2012 The Rizal Experience (PVAF: TRE). As it anchors to this year’s PAF 2012 theme “Tradition and Innovation,” the NCCA aims to bring the main festivities to Rizal with different exhibitions and arts workshops happening in Angono. It partners with the Neo-Angono Arts Collective, an organization composed of young artists of Rizal, as they inject their innovative concepts and ideas.
