FORMER President Gloria Arroyo on Thursday stepped down as chairman of the once ruling Lakas-Kampi Christian Muslim Democrats (CMD) and was replaced by House minority floor leader Edcel Lagman.

Arroyo’s passing of the chairmanship to Lagman relegated her to the role of chairman emeritus, a position that was previously given but unoccupied by former President Fidel Ramos.
