Apart from shielding themselves from the scorching heat, teachers conducting the 2010 Census of Housing and Population (CHP) find themselves fending off various forms of abuse from unfriendly residents.
Most of the 75, 000 teachers deployed nationwide have complained of harsh treatment from suspicious homeowners, thinking the teachers were thieves. Some residents even sent their dogs after the census takers.
