In the Philippines, as far as television can reach, the name of Mel Tiangco is synonymous with public service. Tiangco, a veteran news anchor and TV host, is also the executive vice president of the GMA Kapuso Foundation (GMAKF), a media-based philanthropic organization. “It’s my vocation. It’s my passion. I can no longer be a nun so I’ll just keep on doing this,” she replies lightheartedly when asked what kept her helping people through the years.
