In Davao City, 150 Muslim women from the religious sector and from civil society gathered from January 24 to 26 at the Waterfront Hotel in a forum organized by the Philippine Council for Islam and Democracy and supported by Magbassa Kita Foundation Inc., Japan Foundation and the One Woman Initiative.

As I wrote on Sunday, the women—who had participated in provincial and regional consultations over the past seven months—came together to decide on what they wanted to do together. They addressed issues and problems that impede the progress and development of their communities. Crossing tribal lines and establishing friendships, the women planned on how to address problems.
