SEC to resolve troubled preneed firms

The government is mulling over the possibility of allowing the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to handle “problematic” preneed firms, even after the newly enacted Preneed Code transferred regulatory oversight to the Insurance Commission (IC), the corporate watchdog said.

SEC Chairman Fe Barin told The Manila Times that discussions are underway on the possibility of leaving the “problematic” firms and those that have pending cases under the watch of the corporate regulator.
