HE was called the “Maestro” of the NBI for his keen investigating prowess. Yet the highest rank the lawyer Salvador Ranin received as a career NBI man was that of a regional director. He died at age 67, two years after he retired.

Salvador “Buddy” Ranin died of kidney failure in New York on December 6. His remains were returned to the Philippines for a necrological service at the NBI chapel on Friday. His burial is slated for December 17.
