FRANCIS L. CARDONA

ASENSO PINOY, which started in October last year as a radio program aired over DZSR Manila and Philradio provincial stations and a weekly column in this newspaper,  has evolved so fast. With God’s blessings and support from well meaning advertisers, government agencies and the public, this program has made its way into television through ABC-5’s weekend slot,  1 to 1:30 p.m., every Saturday.  After completing its first season (one quarter) last week, this program has attained another breakthrough—starting yesterday,  October  8, 2005, Asenso Pinoy TV is shown to Filipino audiences in Japan, Canada,  the US mainland and very soon in the Middle East,  via Mabuhay Channel. The show is aired every Saturday at 3:30 p.m.  Mabuhay channel is the second Filipino channel that has successfully pierced  the North American TV market. The first one, as we all know, is the Filipino Channel (TFC) of ABS-CBN.  Recently, GMA’s Pinoy TV also joined the race to capture a sizable chunk of the growing number of  Filipino audience overseas. I wish to thank Dream Satellite and Mabuhay Channel for this opportunity to be included on their program feed to the international airwaves. My particular gratitude to Ms. Chay Legaspi and Vaness Galvez, Mabuhay’s Channel officers. By this development we hope to be able to show to our beloved countrymen abroad, the many positive developments that are transpiring in the country. We hope to convince our kababayans overseas to invest in worthwhile business activities hereabout. Most of all, we would wish to present our “never say die spirit” and never-ending aspiration to achieve prosperity against all odds—“Walang Bibitiw.”
