For the last time early Tuesday morning, Donato Continente slept in his bed in Building 11-A of the maximum security compound of the New Bilibid Prison in Muntinlupa. Just two hours after dozing off, he woke up at 4 a.m. unable to contain his emotions as he counted the hours toward his freedom.

By 7 a.m., Continente was no longer prisoner N91P-0793 but a free man.
