Gleaned from the public statements of government leaders, there is nothing to fear in the adoption of a national identification card system. Interior Secretary Angelo Reyes said the proposed ID would contain only the basic personal data, such as full name, birth date, height, weight and other “distinguishing features.”

He said it would be no different from a community tax certificate, a driver’s license, a senior citizen card or an SSS ID.
