Laoag City vice mayor shot dead after meet

LAOAG CITY: Vice Mayor Jimmy Chua was shot dead before dawn Wednesday as he was leaving the Eagle’s Nest bar, where he had a meeting with Councilor Melvin dela Cuesta and Mayor Michael Fariñas, whose family owns and manages the bar, the police reported.

Supt. Joel Pagdilao, Laoag City police chief, said Chua, 35, sustained one gunshot wound in his right temple and likely died instantaneously after he was shot at close range by a still unidentified gunman at around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.
