BACK in the sixties, the singing duo Chad and Jeremy did a special appearance in the popular TV series Batman, which starred Adam West as the cape crusader. The episode is at its funniest when dynamic villainess Catwoman (Julie Newmar) phones Commissioner Gordon and demands to meet Chad and Jeremy. The duo happened to be in Gotham City for a concert.
So goes the contretemps of this campy episode, which attests to the popularity of Chad Stuart and Jeremy Clyde, the two men behind the romantic hits "Distant Shores," "September in the Rain" and "Yesterday's Gone," among many others. The two met in the early sixties when both were studying at London's Central School for Speech and Drama. They became close friends when Chad taught Jeremy to play the guitar. They later played gigs and were discovered by the famous composer John Barry who wrote "Born Free."
