President Arroyo's economic blueprint, which was described by NEDA chief Romulo Neri as the "road map" to reduce poverty, raises the nation's hopes for new prosperity before the end of her term in 2010.
Crafted by the Chief Executive and her Cabinet, the plan envisions exports to exceed $50 billion by 2006, the reduction of poverty incidence to below 20 percent by 2009, an annual job creation exceeding 1.7 million by 2009, a GDP growth accelerating to 7 percent to 8 percent by years 2009 and 2010, an investment to GDP ratio nearing 28 percent by 2010, and a balanced budget by 2010.
