Plan to privatize Baguio garbage collection hit

BAGUIO CITY—Plan to privatize the collection of garbage in Baguio is being sidelined at the city council despite reports that the city is on the verge of a garbage crisis within the next two years.

Councilor Rufino Panagan last week proposed a resolution repealing City Resolution 263 of 2002, which authorizes the mayor to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with a private firm to collect and dispose Baguio City's 270 tons of garbage daily.
