BAGUIO CITY—Plan to privatize the collection of garbage in Baguio is being sidelined at the city council despite reports that the city is on the verge of a garbage crisis within the next two years.
Councilor Rufino Panagan last week proposed a resolution repealing City Resolution 263 of 2002, which authorizes the mayor to enter into a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with a private firm to collect and dispose Baguio City's 270 tons of garbage daily.
