The government is finally taking steps to bring 'closure' to four major conflicts it has had with four major political groups—the July 27 mutineers at Oakwood, the family of Ferdinand E. Marcos, ousted President Joseph Estrada, and the tycoon Lucio Tan.

The first group is the 300 soldiers who mutinied at the Oakwood Premier service apartments in Makati in October last year. This group, known as the Magdaló, apologized on September 24, at the Department of National Defense headquarters in suburban Quezon City.
