WHEN we think of "first mover," some of us would immediately think of foot soldiers that go before anyone else to prepare the way for others. They're the so-called early settlers or pioneers, if you may.
But remember, this column is generally all about business management, and not designed for history and politics. Well, I'm actually referring to a strategic buzzword, introduced by Michael Porter to describe how a company gains competitive advantage by being first to introduce a new product or service in the market.
