A member of the New People’s Army (NPA) died while seven were arrested in separate clashes in Ozamiz City early on Sunday, a military official said.
Lt. Col. Ray Tiongson, commander of the Philippine Army’s 10th Infantry Battalion, said the first firefight happened at 5:50 a.m. in Barangay Bagacay where military troops from the same battalion and police from the 2nd mobile force company encountered 10 communist rebels, resulting in the arrest of three.
