SOME local government units (LGUs) have announced the cancellation of classes in Metro Manila and nearby provinces on Monday because of the possible threat of floods caused by heavy rain.

This comes after the Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that Typhoon “Maria,” which would be renamed “Gardo” when it enters the country, may enhance the southwest monsoon over parts of Luzon and the Visayas.
