Allies and a leading leftist critic of President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday said he could not be serious in vowing to step down from Malacañang if former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. or Sen. Francis Escudero took his place as the country’s leader.
“Hahaha...Tatawa lang ako. P’wede ‘yun na lang sagot ko? P’wede tawa na lang [I’ll just laugh. Will my answer suffice? Can I just laugh]?” Escudero said in an interview when asked to comment on the President’s statement.
